Here are a few shots taken earlier tonight from our living room window:

They are probably pretty much identical, but I am too lazy to sort through them and figure out which ones are the “best” – so here goes:

We just got back from a run/bike ride. I ran. Thao rode her bike. I can’t remember if I mentioned this on here before or not, but we’ve been running/biking in a big construction development near our apartment. The security guards don’t mind us exercising in there – and there’s no traffic, which is certainly rare for Vietnam. I ran 3 more tonight. Feeling a little stronger – but still far from being in the type of shape I want to be in.
Today we had our first school-wide meeting of our Community Action Network volunteer group. I spoke, our acting president Phuong spoke, and RMIT’s Community Relations Coordinator, Fiona, spoke. It was not very well attended – maybe 15 or 20 students. I hope it was because it was Friday afternoon at 2:00pm instead of because of lack of interest. We have a second information session this coming Tuesday at lunchtime, so hopefully that one will be better attended.
One of my groups had their first pop quiz of the semester yesterday. I haven’t graded them yet – plan to over the weekend. But I did skim through them. Some of them look very good – but unfortunately quite a few don’t look very good at all. We were very clear with our students that they were going to have to study on a weekly basis as the course progressed – so if they didn’t I don’t really know what else we could have done for them. But those students who end up scoring a 0 or a 1 out of the 5 available points have already put themselves in somewhat of a hole that they’re now going to have to dig their way out of. Especially since our first midterm is less than two weeks away on the 22nd.
Tomorrow night (Saturday), Thao and I are going to the wedding party for one of my fellow law teachers, Huck. I think a bunch of the other law teachers and their wives/girflriends/husbands/etc., will be there, so it should be a good time.
Alright, I’m outtie. Peace.
