I’m typing this from Blythewood, South Carolina at my buddy D.J.’s house.  It’s about 11:30pm Tuesday night, October 14th.  I drove over here today from my sister’s house in Auburn.  Tomorrow I’ll drive back to my mom’s in Thomaston, and that will be my last long drive while I’m home.  Thank god.  I think I’ve ended up driving more this trip than I did last time – and I said that I wouldn’t do that again.  Oh well.

I last updated this blog last Wednesday when I was still in Atlanta – since then I picked up my friend Fred at the Atlanta airport, spent Thursday night at my mom’s in Thomaston, spent Friday night at my friends’ Will and Ashley’s in Athens, spent Saturday night at my sister’s in Auburn, and then spent Sunday night at my grandmother’s house in Demopolis, Alabama.  Fred and I drove from Demopolis to Atlanta yesterday, and she got on her long flight back to Vietnam.  I drove back to Auburn.  Then over to Columbia today.  A lot of driving!

Fred and I had a great time.  I don’t know how exciting Thomaston, Athens, Auburn, and Demopolis were to her after being in L.A. and Vegas, but I think she had a reasonably good time.  I am 0 for 3 on football games though – UGA, Ole Miss, and Auburn lost in the 3 games I attended while I was home.  But the Auburn vs. Arkansas game was Fred’s first game and I think she enjoyed it.

My dad and stepmom were in Demopolis and Auburn over the weekend, and we enjoyed seeing them.

I leave early Saturday morning to fly back to Vietnam, and I am ready to go.  I found out my first class will not be until Tuesday now, so at least I’ll have Monday off to try to recuperate from the long flight before I have to show up and actually teach!

I’ll try to update more later – including some stories about seeing my grandmother over the weekend – but right now I’m going to crash.

Oh, I have been lame about photos.  I’ve got a few photos on my iPhone, but the only photos I’ve taken with my camera were the ones I took when I was talking to Owen’s class a couple of weeks ago.  I should also have some photos to post that my sister, dad, and Fred took.  I’ll get them up when I can.  Sorry to have been so boring while I’ve been home!
