Sunburned Sunday Morning

I am typing this on my buddy McGehee’s computer in Senatobia, Mississippi. I drove over here from Auburn, Alabama on Friday. That night, McGehee and his wife, Kathleen, and I went out to a nice dinner with some friends of theirs at the Como Steakhouse.

Yesterday McGehee and I went to the Ole Miss vs. South Carolina football game in Oxford (about half an hour away from Senatobia). Sadly, Ole Miss found numerous ways to lose to South Carolina. It was hot as hell at the game – in the 80s at least – and we were sitting directly in the bright sun for the whole game. I had bought a baseball cap to cover my face before the game, but the right side of my face and neck still got sunburned. So much for my “looking forward to enjoying cooler weather at home in the U.S. in October” idea.

Last night we bought some beer, ordered some pizza, and watched football. I went to bed about 9pm. I think I’ve only stayed up past 9pm twice since I’ve been home. This has been the weirdest jetlag I’ve ever had – I sleep soundly through the night, but I have to go to bed really early as I just crash at about 8:30 or 9:00pm. Oh well, it beats the jetlag I’ve had in the past where I just lay there all night long wide awake.

I saw my friend Mary and her family at the Grove before and after the game yesterday – also several old friends Kelly, Paige, Melanie, etc. It was fun to see them, but way too short.

Today I am driving back to my mom’s in Georgia. Not sure what’s next on the agenda. Just playing it by ear. My dad flies down next Saturday, so I need to be back in Auburn on Saturday to meet him, but other than that I’m pretty wide open this week.

Hope everyone is doing well!
