I’ve disabled commenting for posts going forward on this blog. (Or I think I have, at least.) I’m not trying to be a jackass, but I don’t want to have to avoid certain topics – politics, etc. – just so that I won’t have to moderate (read, delete, respond to, etc.) comments on my posts. If you think my blog is too politicized or whatever, you can just stop reading it. You don’t have to tell me about it – especially if I don’t even know who you are and so am less inclined to care.
If you’ve read this blog for any length of time, you know that I’ll talk about politics for a while, then I’ll talk about other things for a while, etc. It’s not going to turn into a 100% political blog, but I am not going to shy away from mentioning political issues when they are at the forefront of what I’m thinking about right now. And I could really care less what some anonymous stranger thinks about whether my thoughts about those issues are fair and balanced vs. biased, etc. Or whether I’m “pretending” to be fair and balanced when I’m really biased as one recent deleted comment said. I’m not trying to curry favor with anyone, so I’m not “pretending” to be one way or the other.
This blog is primarily to let my family and friends know what I’m up to in Vietnam, but it is also to record my experience here – including how I thought about the current issues of the day at that point in my life. I’m not trying to change the world, and I’m not even trying to influence anyone else’s opinion. (Not that I think I could even if I wanted to.) I’m not a serious political writer. Or even a serious writer. Or even a writer. Or even serious.
Anyway, again, not trying to be a jackass. If you want to communicate with me, email me at the address indicated on my Contact Info page.
