1st Post from iPhone

I am sitting in a sushi restaurant that has a wi-fi connection and am trying out my iPhone over the internet for the first time. Pretty slick. Not perfect but pretty damn neat to be able to do this at all! I don’t know if it’s possible to post photos directly from the phone – [...]

“Overstimulating”

Mary Ellen and Ut bonding: So my friends Mary Ellen and Tony arrived in Vietnam Saturday night (that sounds like a bad Bob Segar song – “Vietnam Saturday Night”) – about 11:00pm.  I picked them up at the airport without incident.  Here they are coming out of the airport, taking their first steps into Vietnam: [...]

Beautiful, Weird Sunset

I saw this beautiful, weird sunset the other night and had to take a couple of photos.  It really looked like that with the line dividing the brightness from the darkness.  Very cool.  Here’s another photo:

Hot Damn! Pork Floss!

One of my coworkers just returned from a business trip to Cambodia.  Above is a photo of the gift she brought back for the office.  Yep:  Good Ol’ Rice Cracker with Pork Floss. Her timing really couldn’t have been better, because now I know what I’m bringing back as Christmas gifts for everyone in the [...]

Ole Miss to Shock World, Topple #1-Ranked LSU!

[Note:  Yes, I am well aware that this may be the first time in the history of blogs that images of the Wu-Tang Clan's Ol' Dirty Bastard and Ole Miss' Colonel Rebel have featured in consecutive posts.] Okay, maybe ESPN’s Chris Fowler isn’t quite as emphatic about it as the above title indicates, but he [...]

I Came to Bring the Pain

I’ve gotten a few requests to post some more music, so I will try to do so from time to time when the mood strikes.  Here are a few songs I’ve been listening to lately – you should be able to click on the song titles below to download “samples,” but I think the links [...]

Christmas in November

My friend Mary Ellen and her friend Tony leave Atlanta for Vietnam at 10:00am EST Friday, and will be arriving in Vietnam at about 10:40pm Vietnam time Saturday night.  (Due to daylight savings time, Vietnam time and the time in Atlanta are exactly 12 hours apart right now, so it’s taking a total of 24 [...]

CafeCosa

My old girlfriend from Seattle, Darcie, and her father have a coffee company called CafeCosa that imports coffee from San Marcos de Tarrazu in Costa Rica (that’s a picture taken in San Marcos, above).  Darcie’s parents retired to San Marcos de Tarrazu years ago, and Darcie and her father have been working with the local [...]

Mad Props

Within only the last couple of years, my mom has picked up photography as a hobby.  And this year she won two awards for her photographs at the Georgia National Fair! The above photograph of a frog – which mom took in her backyard – won third place in the Animals division, and the photo [...]

Stuff I’ve Been Listening To

No rhyme or reason. You should be able to download “samples” of the tracks by clicking on the titles. Here you go: Rick Ross, Jay-Z, Young Jeezy Hustlin’ Remix “We don’t resort to violence; we own resorts and islands . . .” Kid Rock Jackson, Mississippi “And I could say I’m trying to change, but [...]
